What you will do:

  • Acts as receptionist/clerk/registrar for the Corporate Health Center. Greets and directs patients, clients, visitors; answers routine questions regarding services provided by CHC in a courteous and professional manner. Schedules and maintains calendar for various examinations, appointments and meetings. Receives/routes all incoming and outgoing mail. Answers telephone courteously, records and delivers messages accurately.
  • Maintains necessary records, reports and patient files to provide documentation of all services rendered by the Medical Center and CHC. Schedules appointments to coordinate with services rendered in ancillary departments of the medical center; obtains necessary patient information to register patients and works with flow sheets for billing purposes.
  • Register patients for visit to CHC/medical center; verifies all data. Obtains insurance carrier information and makes copies of both front and back of insurance cards for outpatient services. Obtains signatures of consent for treatment and release of information to third party payers and various agencies, and for insurance payment to the Medical Center. Refers all uninsured patients to Financial Counseling, if applicable.
  • Accepts payments, makes change, and provides a receipt as necessary.
  • Checks inventory of supplies on a routine basis and orders appropriately. Unusual or large purchase requests will be submitted to the Manager. Provides for a safe, efficient and economical use of all supplies and equipment.
  • Assists clinic with gathering vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, body fat readings) and performing phlebotomy procedures when so trained.
  • Maintains accurate records of department activities; i.e. monthly QA reports, daily charts, handling daily exam and drug screen results, computerized tracking/random program and compiles statistical reports as needed under the direction of the Manager.
  • Assists with FRMC Employee Health record keeping; arranges and schedules employee physicals as medical center procedure outlines.
  • Knowledge of the needs of patients according to their age group and the ability to modify care according to patient’s age. Will most frequently care for adults and geriatric patients; and on occasion, teens.

What you will need:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent, with courses in office management and two to three years’ experience. Demonstrated clerical skills including filing, record keeping, and billing procedures, office practice and procedures.
  • Clinical skills such as assessing vital signs and phlebotomy skills preferred.
  • Completion of a Medical Terminology class or demonstrated experience. Ability to consistently spell and use medical terminology correctly.
  • Ability to type 50 words per minute accurately.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as copier, printer, fax, and computer. Proficiency in Windows, Word and Excel, preferred.
  • Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
  • Ability to read and write small letters and numbers, and perform basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and understand in both written and oral form and handle sensitive telephone and face-to-face inquiries.
