Key Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
- Bridge design and production by building complex assemblies—from delicate PCBAs to heavy-duty power systems
- Perform CAD reviews, precision instrumentation, and advanced troubleshooting
- Manage R&D workshop build-outs and operate fabrication equipment
Education and Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in high-stakes prototyping and manufacturing environments, ideally paired with an Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related technical field (or equivalent vocational certification).
- Experience in constructing first-of-kind subassemblies while maintaining high levels of process control and technical documentation.
- Expertise in operating fabrication equipment (3D printers, power machinery, and machine shop equipment) and leading workshop build-outs, including space planning and T-slot fabrication.
Specific Skills / Abilities
- Proven ability to build electro-mechanical assemblies to exacting specs, including PCBAs, sensitive wiring, and structural sheet metal.
- Mastery of custom wiring for both signal and heavy-duty power systems, including high-quality soldering, crimping, and harness construction.
- Proficiency in reviewing 2D/3D CAD and a strong interest in modifying parts and engineering drawings to meet requirements.
- Skilled in installing/qualifying delicate instrumentation, executing engineering tests, and processing technical data.
- Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, including failure analysis and the creation of new detection processes.
- Competency in wiring high and low voltage facility systems, including transformers, disconnects, and power supplies.
- Knowledge of environmental, reliability, safety, and industry standards for industrial and electric utility products.
