What Does a Part-Time Mechanic Do?

A part-time mechanic works on various types of vehicles to repair non-functioning parts, perform regular maintenance, and inspect cars and trucks for safety and compliance with motor vehicle regulations. Positions are available with consumer repair shops, trucking and industrial companies, and even government entities like school districts. You can also specialize in diesel engines or large equipment like tractors or eventually transition into part-time instructional positions at vocational schools and community colleges.
