This position is eligible for telework, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

Job Summary:

Responsible for aiding in the development and implementation of strategies focused on improving the efficiencies and effectiveness of the MTA supply chain. Develops, reviews, provides, and oversees inventory analytics used to support broad user groups to meet their supply chain requirements in the various agencies. The manager will develop and implement reports for materials management support for distribution to various MTA users and support groups. Responsible for supporting analytical tools needed in all the areas in Materials Management of inventory as well as help to implement standardized reporting. Understands the budgetary impact of forecast vs. material receipts for their particular agency. Liaison with various user groups, providing consistent analytical support, as well as training when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Director, Inventory Dynamics and Logistical Analysis and departmental management to translate Agency’s operational maintenance forecasted requirements data for inventory needs into tools that assist stakeholders in developing more efficient forecasting strategies.
  • Supports the Director to ensure Agency’s operational requirements correctly speak to the quantity, frequency, and levels of storage at individual locations, as well as each agency in general, subject to budgetary and location size constraints to maintain an efficient and cost-effective supply chain.
  • Provide analytical tools and insight to monitor and control the Agency’s inventory $100+M material budget.
  • Manage data validation on all inventory management applications.
  • Provide support for analytical tools needed in all areas of materials management of inventory for Agencies.
  • Develop analytical tools and provide analytical interpretations of the data aimed at increasing effectiveness and efficiencies throughout the MTA’s distribution network.
  • Review data output to make recommendations to using departments, warehousing, and procurement to improve efficiencies within the warehousing operations.
  • Supports the Director by developing innovative reporting to allow all stakeholders in the MTA supply chain to make better decisions, aimed towards inventory reduction and more efficient material availability flow.
  • Create an environment that fosters creativity, learning, development, and opportunity for all employees. Provide ongoing support and dedication to developing internal talent pool.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated supervisory and/or leadership abilities.
  • Working knowledge of Warehousing Operations / Business and Supply Chain Systems.
  • Familiarity with visualization tools, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
  • Excellent Microsoft suite skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with key internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete short- and long-term projects effectively and as efficiently as possible.
  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities and quantitative skills.
  • Demonstrate independent initiative, leadership, and management skills.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Business, Transportation, Public Policy, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience.

The Following is/are preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) in an advanced degree in a related field.
  • Familiarity with the MTA’s policies and procedures.
  • Experience with the following systems: PeopleSoft
  • Commodity Management Systems (CMS)
  • Talon / Materials Management System (MMS)
  • Planner Initiated Expediting System (PIES)
  • Logical Inventory Management System (LIMS)
  • Maximo

Other Information

May need to work outside of normal work hours (i.e., evenings and weekends)
