The Rutgers Pre College Outreach and Upward Bound Math-Science (RUBMS) Programs are designed to assist and motivate students to succeed, graduate from high school, and enroll in institutions of higher education. The instructor position is a part-time temporary position for six weeks, with the primary responsibility of providing instruction in Composition & Literature, Mathematics, Science, and various elective courses for grades 9-12. Our summer institute will take place from Monday, June 29, 2026, through Friday, July 31, 2026.

Statement
Instructors will maintain an environment that promotes academic excellence, social development and intellectual growth as well as getting youth motivated about attending college by preparing skill development for college level courses. In addition to instruction applicant is expected to supervise and monitor students during enrichment and recitation classes. Ensure the safety, well-being and attendance of all students at all times by properly monitoring students on campus and in common areas, study halls, and computer labs.
Average instruction and duty should not exceed 15-25 hours per week.Specific Duties Include:
  • Update approved syllabi for assigned courses taught during Summer Institute under the direction of Upward Bound administration.
  • Must report daily class attendance, grades, progress, and classroom incidents via Instructor database.
  • Submit time sheet documenting individualized office hours, student group work, tutoring, and preparation.
  • Must adhere to the dress code as defined by Upward Bound Departmental Dress Code Policy. i.e. shorts, jeans, sandals, sneakers are not permitted.
  • Follow all program deadlines and submissions.
  • Submit and request all supporting classroom supplies and media request in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain required paperwork and submit all reports, program supplies, and materials prior to the end of the program
  • Complete and Notarize Affirmation of Oath Statement and Code of Ethics form.
