Job description

Middle & High-School Math Tutor
GradePower Learning St. Petersburg is looking for an upbeat reliable, enthusiastic, dynamic part-time tutor who wants to work in a rewarding teaching environment. Candidates must possess a strong background in Math and must be comfortable teaching students in 6th to 12th grade (at all levels).
This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys math, and is passionate about helping others build their math skills. Applicants will be given training on our proprietary GradePower learning philosophy and methods.
Position Requirements:
All Tutors at GradePower Learning work during after-school and evening hours, as well as Saturdays, although you are not required to work every one of these days. However, your students will love working with you, so being reliable is a must.
This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position and completing a background check is mandatory.
We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • 3rd & 4th year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Retired teachers will be considered
  • Strong knowledge of the current 6th to 12th grade curriculum

Experience:
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring Middle & High school-level Math
  • Must have strong skills in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Statistics & Probability
  • Strong English language Reading and Writing skills which includes knowledge of grammar, rhetoric and critical reading
  • Strong Math skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details):
You will work directly with students as a Tutor with the following responsibilities:
  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching in-person
  • Following the GradePower Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
