Position Summary

Hillel Day School seeks a dynamic, knowledgeable, and student-centered Part-Time Middle School Math Teacher to join our faculty beginning in Fall 2026. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of mathematics while helping students develop strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and analytical skills. This position includes teaching middle school mathematics and supporting students who are working at an accelerated level, with content extending through Algebra II.

The successful candidate will create a positive and engaging classroom environment, differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, and collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and rigorous mathematics program.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Teach middle school mathematics courses, including advanced and accelerated learners.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of mathematical concepts through Algebra II.

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that promote conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying learning profiles and levels of readiness.

  • Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative measures and use data to inform instruction.

  • Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students and families regarding academic progress.

  • Foster a classroom culture that encourages curiosity, perseverance, collaboration, promotes math discourse, and a growth mindset.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, learning specialists, and administrators to support student success.

  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as appropriate.

  • Uphold and support the mission, values, and community culture of Hillel Day School.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education, or a related field required. (Secondary Mathematics)

  • Teaching certification preferred.

  • Experience teaching middle school mathematics required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics content through Algebra II.

  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience differentiating instruction for a range of learners.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Familiarity with educational technology and data-informed instructional practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in mathematics, Education, or a related field.

  • Experience teaching advanced middle school mathematics or high school-level courses.

  • Knowledge of best practices in mathematics instruction, including inquiry-based learning and mathematical discourse.
