Job description

Adecco Staffing is working with a nonprofit organization in Lawrence, MA to hire an experienced Temporary HR & Payroll Assistant for a 6–7 month maternity leave coverage assignment. This is a part-time, in-person temporary opportunity supporting the Human Resources and Payroll departments. The ideal candidate will have experience with payroll processing, HR administration, and maintaining confidential employee records.
Schedule: Part-time, 25 hours per week (Monday – Friday)
Pay: $27.00 – $30.00/hour, depending on experience
Location: Lawrence, MA
Job Duties:
  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule using Paylocity
  • Review employee timesheets for accuracy and completeness
  • Process new hires, terminations, employee status changes, and monthly expense reimbursements
  • Maintain payroll records and employee earnings information
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding, including offer letters, background checks, and new hire payroll and benefits orientation
  • Maintain confidential employee personnel files and HR records
  • Support employee benefits administration, including enrollments, life event changes, and monthly vendor invoice reconciliation
  • Track employee leave requests and assist with leave administration
  • Maintain HR databases and reporting systems
  • Respond to employee payroll-related questions and employment verification requests
  • Assist with recruitment activities through the HRIS system
  • Support payroll audits, year-end processing, and other administrative duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or a related field with 1–2 years of HR or payroll experience
  • Experience with HRIS systems and Paylocity payroll software required
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 2–3 years of HR and payroll experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts employment laws and payroll practices
  • Employee benefits administration experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
