Summary:

The Material Handler provides support to the production associates by receiving, dispensing, and accurately maintaining inventory in the vertical storage units and on the shop floor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities listed below are not intended to be all-inclusive.

  • Maintains a safe, clean and organized work area.
  • Utilize the ERP system for all transactions.
  • Assists with maintaining inventory levels for vertical storage units (VSU). Reports any unplanned issues to Team Leader.
  • Pull together all non-floor stock components that are in the VSU for work orders. This will include printing any labels that are needed.
  • Receives hardware into the VSU unit placement is in proper storeroom location and sequence, such as size, type, style, color, and product code.
  • Consults with Team Leader or Crew Leader on work orders and job orders for the delivery of hardware and ensures it’s in proper sequence for the production associates.
  • Assures an accurate inventory level by correctly back flushing work orders with the correct material quantities and part numbers.
  • Utilizes fork truck, carts other approved methods to transport materials between departments.
  • Perform cycle counts on products and materials.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • 1 year of forklift experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret the English language.
  • Associate must have the ability to communicate internally and externally effectively and efficiently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequent use of hands that comes with the use of tools. 
  • Agility of the upper and lower body extremities with the ability to reach, crouch, kneel, or stoop. 
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time. 
  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds without assistance.

Additional Job Information:

The environment is active and fast-paced, with fabrication and production operating throughout the day. Expect a mix of physical activity and equipment use, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and carts to move materials and keep operations flowing.
