Job description

Team Lead / Event Activation SpecialistPosition Overview:

We are seeking an energetic, outgoing, and highly organized Team Lead / Brand Ambassador to lead an exciting Walmart Grand Opening activation in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This large-scale community event will feature interactive games, sampling, photo opportunities, trick-or-treat stations, and other family-friendly activities.

The Team Lead will be responsible for supporting and guiding the event team, ensuring all activations run smoothly, maintaining strong client and guest experiences, and assisting with setup and teardown throughout the activation.

Event Dates: Thursday, October 22 - Sunday, October 25, 2026
Rate of Pay: $24 / HR

Shift Times:

Thursday, October 22: 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Friday, October 23: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Saturday, October 24: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Sunday, October 25: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Shift times include setup and teardown and are subject to change based on final event requirements. Flexibility is required. The selected Team Lead must be available for all four activation dates.

Mandatory Training: The selected Team Lead must attend a mandatory virtual training session on Thursday, October 15 from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM EST / 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM MDT. Candidates must be available for both the training session and all activation dates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support the Brand Ambassador team throughout the activation, ensuring all team members are engaged, professional, and positioned effectively.
  • Act as the primary on-site point of contact for the event team and communicate important updates, instructions, and client requirements.
  • Conduct team check-ins and ensure staff are aware of their roles, responsibilities, and station assignments.
  • Proactively engage with shoppers, children, and families in a friendly, energetic, and professional manner.
  • Lead by example by actively approaching and interacting with shoppers in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Help facilitate Plinko and distribute prizes while ensuring a fun and positive guest experience.
  • Oversee sampling activities and ensure products are distributed in accordance with event guidelines and food safety requirements.
  • Support and monitor the Trick-or-Treat stations while helping manage guest flow and maintaining an organized experience.
  • Support the Photo Op, Face Painting, Balloon Artist, and Sparkling Water Truck activations as needed.
  • Monitor activation areas to ensure they remain clean, organized, safe, and properly stocked throughout the event.
  • Assist with team breaks, station coverage, and staff rotation to ensure consistent activation coverage.
  • Communicate any issues, challenges, or guest concerns to the appropriate Field Supervisor or client contact.
  • Assist with event setup and teardown before and after the activation.
  • Ensure all event materials, equipment, and supplies are handled and stored appropriately.
  • Be prepared to work both indoor and outdoor activations and assist across multiple stations during busy periods.
  • Maintain a positive, solutions-focused attitude and help motivate the team throughout the event.
  • Follow all event, safety, brand, and client guidelines.
  • Represent Brand Momentum and the client in a positive and professional manner.
Requirements:
  • Energetic, outgoing, and highly engaging, with the confidence to approach and interact with shoppers, children, and families.
  • Previous Team Lead, supervisory, customer service, retail, promotional, experiential marketing, sampling, or event experience is preferred.
  • Previous leadership or experience managing a promotional/event team is an asset.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable taking initiative, providing direction, and supporting a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable, professional, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Food Handler Certification is required.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.
  • Comfortable assisting with event setup and teardown.
  • Must be available for all four activation dates and the mandatory virtual training session.
  • Able to remain energetic and engaged throughout extended event shifts.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities during an activation.
