Job description:

Occupational Clinic is hiring a licensed Physical Therapist Assistants.

We are looking for someone who has experience working with workers comp patients in a busy outpatient clinic. The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible providing support to the Physical Therapists in helping patients who are recovering from injuries manage pain and regain their mobility. Their main duties include preparing therapy equipment for appointments, massaging and stretching patients’ muscles and sanitizing therapy areas.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Counsel patients and their families on what to do following treatment.
  • Observe the patients they are working with before, during and after therapy and report notes to the Physical Therapist.
  • Assign specific exercises for the patient and help the patients do these exercises.
  • Use devices, such as walkers, and other equipment to help patients regain movement and reduce pain.
  • Use a variety of techniques, including stretching exercises and massage, to treat patients.
  • Assist patients when moving to and from the therapy area.
  • Always uses appropriate modalities as instructed by Physical Therapist. Demonstrates good working knowledge of modalities. Knows indications and contraindications.
  • Demonstrates good working knowledge of exercise programs including indications and contraindications. Able to accurately provide verbal/written feedback regarding observed patient performance.
  • Capable of working with a wide variety of patients (orthopedic, neurological, medical) of different ages) and consistently maintains productivity at department average. Uses support staff in an appropriate manner.


Mandatory Prerequisites:

  • Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant curriculum.
  • Is able to practice unencumbered.
  • Is in good standing with all regulatory agencies and licensing boards.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare and other payer sources.
  • Full knowledge of resident’s rights.
  • Exudes professionalism in presentation.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in the English language.
  • CPR certification.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up and over 100 pounds with assistance according to the resident’s abilities.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach assigned destination in a reasonable time frame.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, push, stoop, and pull as needed especially in fulfilling patient care activities.
  • Must be able to meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, including physical examination.
