Job description

At SusieCakes, we make old-fashioned, sentimental dessert favorites just like you may remember from your childhood! Our bakeries are filled with the delicious tastes and sweet smells of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pies, and bars all baked from scratch, on-site daily, using the freshest and finest ingredients. Our signature Celebration Cake is a birthday staple on tens of thousands of tables. Our bakeries mix the nostalgia of the past with the warmth and feel of a modern, neighborhood bakery. Connecting through Celebration is our purpose and what we strive for every day with our team members, our guests, and our community.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

We are looking to hire a part-time Marketing Intern to seek out local partnership opportunities within the community. This person will report to the Head of Brand Marketing and work approximately 15-20 hours per month. The Marketing Intern will assist with marketing outreach and brand activations, including representing SusieCakes at local events.

Candidates should have strong organizational and project management skills, as well as a thorough understanding of grassroots marketing strategies. They should have their finger on the pulse of the city, with the ability to speak to key cultural moments, popular tastemakers, and upcoming events in the area. With a genuine passion for SusieCakes, candidates must serve as a positive representation of the brand and be eager to share it with their community. This is a hybrid position.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Community Engagement:

  • Support the marketing team with local events, deliveries, influencer collaborations, and other marketing initiatives in the area
  • Source, outreach, and cultivate relationships with local businesses to develop brand partnerships and seek out event opportunities
  • Research and network with local community groups to strengthen brand awareness (such as student groups or charities)
  • Keep up with local happenings in the market and propose new ways to engage throughout the city

Social Media:

  • Support the social media team in driving local brand awareness and encouraging engagement with the @susiecakesbakery Instagram and TikTok accounts
  • Keep an eye out for the latest social media trends and propose ideas about how we can show up on these platforms
  • Film content for the @susiecakesbakery Instagram and TikTok accounts as needed, ensuring that it is high-quality and on-brand
  • Work independently to produce local content by coming up with video concepts, filming all original video assets, and editing videos to completion (on a mobile device is fine)
  • BONUS: Comfortable being on camera (to capitalize on trending audio)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ideal candidate can quickly commute to a local Bakery (within 30 minutes)
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Ability to connect weekly with direct supervisor via videoconferencing
  • Superior verbal and written abilities
  • Detail-oriented, responsible, and reliable
  • Proactive go-getter, independent worker, and effective communicator
  • Passion for SusieCakes, and strong interest in the PR & Marketing space
  • Deep understanding of the market: local businesses, influencers, community organizations, and events
  • Positive representation of company values and brand identity with an outgoing and relationship-oriented attitude

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to sit for long periods of time to conduct market research
  • Able to use a computer for long periods of time
  • Able to make and receive phone calls and respond to emails, chats, or text messages
  • Able to walk, kneel and reach overhead
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to record footage
  • Must be able to travel to bakeries close by

EDUCATION: A high school diploma or GED required
