Job description

This is an entry level position for a person to get into a machine shop environment

and learn to become a CNC Operator/Machinist.

This is a part-time role that has the potential to become a full time role depending on the individual and the needs of the business and business growth.

This is the standard entry point. Core responsibilities are:

  • Always work and operate in a safe manner
  • Loading and unloading parts
  • Running pre-programmed machines
  • Basic inspection (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Monitoring for tool wear or coolant issues
  • Deburring and basic finishing
  • basic problem solving at the machine or work center

No programming knowledge required — follow setup sheets and work instructions. In a precision shop like PRP, this person would be running our turning centers or mills on repeat jobs.
