Job description

Position Overview

US Modules is seeking a highly motivated Equipment Engineer / Project Manager Internship to support equipment installation, manufacturing process improvements, and engineering projects within our solar module manufacturing facility.

This internship provides real-world experience working alongside equipment engineers, project managers, and international technical teams. The ideal candidate is fluent in both Mandarin and English, allowing them to communicate effectively with equipment suppliers and engineering partners in China.

Successful interns will have the opportunity to continue working part-time during the academic year, providing valuable experience while completing their degree.

Key Responsibilities Equipment Engineering

  • Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Support troubleshooting of automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Help analyze equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve uptime and efficiency.
  • Participate in preventive maintenance planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in documenting equipment specifications, operating procedures, and engineering changes.

Project Management

  • Support engineering projects from planning through implementation.
  • Track project timelines, action items, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate meetings with internal departments and external vendors.
  • Prepare project reports, presentations, and status updates.
  • Assist in managing multiple engineering projects simultaneously.

Vendor & Cross-Functional Communication

  • Translate technical discussions and documentation between Mandarin and English as needed.
  • Coordinate communication with overseas equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Facilitate meetings between international vendors and the US Modules engineering team.
  • Support travel coordination and technical visits when applicable.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and process improvement initiatives.
  • Collect and analyze manufacturing data.
  • Recommend improvements to equipment performance, safety, and production efficiency.
  • Support implementation of engineering solutions.

Qualifications Required

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Mechatronics Engineering
    • Or a related engineering discipline
  • Fluent in both Mandarin and English (written and verbal)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment

Preferred

  • Interest in manufacturing, automation, or renewable energy
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
  • Experience managing technical projects or engineering coursework
  • Familiarity with PLCs, robotics, or automated manufacturing systems
