What is a part time manager?

Part time managers are professionals who oversee teams, projects, or business operations while working fewer hours than a full-time schedule, typically less than 35-40 hours per week. They perform similar duties to full-time managers, such as supervising staff, managing budgets, and ensuring goals are met, but on a reduced time commitment. This role is ideal for individuals seeking work-life balance or those who have other commitments. Part time managers are found in various industries, including retail, hospitality, and administration.

How does a part time manager balance leadership responsibilities with limited work hours?

A part-time manager can successfully balance leadership duties by prioritizing key tasks, delegating responsibilities to team members, and maintaining clear, proactive communication. Since time on-site may be limited, it's important to set clear expectations, utilize technology for remote oversight, and foster a culture of trust and accountability. Regular check-ins and focusing on high-impact activities help ensure team goals are met and operations run smoothly, even when the manager is not always present.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time manager?

To thrive as a Part Time Manager, you typically need leadership experience, organizational skills, and a background in business or management, often supported by relevant education or prior supervisory roles. Familiarity with scheduling software, point-of-sale systems, and basic office applications is common in this role. Exceptional communication, time management, and conflict resolution abilities help Part Time Managers motivate teams and handle challenges efficiently. These skills are crucial for maintaining smooth operations, meeting goals, and supporting team performance within limited working hours.

What is the difference between Part Time Manager vs Part Time Supervisor?

A Part Time Supervisor focuses on daily task supervision and team coordination. The manager role often involves higher-level decision-making, whereas the supervisor handles immediate operational tasks.

How to get a part time manager job without management experience?

To secure a part-time manager position without prior management experience, focus on demonstrating leadership skills gained through volunteer work, team projects, or customer service roles. Highlight your ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, and learn quickly, and consider obtaining relevant certifications such as a management or leadership course to strengthen your application.

Job description

Bilingual 2nd Shift Night Manager – Part-Time

Put your bilingual skills to work in a leadership role where communication, relationships, and problem-solving matter.

City Wide Facility Solutions is looking for an energetic, dependable Bilingual (English/Spanish) 2nd Shift Night Manager to join our growing Nashville team. If you enjoy working with people, solving problems, and being out in the field rather than sitting behind a desk, this could be a great opportunity for you.

Schedule: Friday, Saturday & Sunday | 5:30 PM – 2:30 AM
Part-Time: 27 hours per week - Hourly 28.00 per hour

As part of City Wide Facility Solutions, you'll join a nationally recognized organization serving more than 115 markets across the United States and Canada. Our Nashville team helps businesses keep their facilities running smoothly by coordinating janitorial and other facility maintenance services.

At City Wide, our mission is to create a positive ripple effect in the lives of the people and communities we serve. We value integrity, strong relationships, accountability, and people who take pride in getting the job done right.

What You'll Do

As a Bilingual Night Manager, you'll serve as an important connection between our clients and our Independent Contractors (ICs). Your ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish will help you build strong working relationships, provide clear direction, resolve issues, and ensure our clients consistently receive high-quality service.

You'll spend much of your shift visiting client locations throughout the Nashville area, including warehouses, distribution centers, auto dealerships, industrial facilities, offices, and medical facilities.

This is a hands-on position for someone who can think on their feet. You'll inspect facilities, communicate with clients and contractors, identify and resolve service issues, coach contractors when improvements are needed, and be willing to roll up your sleeves when challenges arise.

If you're bilingual, people-oriented, organized, and enjoy a fast-paced role where every night is a little different, we'd love to hear from you.

Essential functions

What You'll Be Doing
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with our Independent Contractors (ICs), in-house teams, and clients, using your English and Spanish communication skills to ensure expectations are clear and everyone is set up for success.

  • Conduct regular facility inspections and review scopes of work to ensure services consistently meet City Wide's quality standards.
  • Serve as a hands-on resource in the field, providing coaching, direction, and support when performance improvements are needed.
  • Communicate daily with the Facility Solutions Manager regarding client needs, service concerns, and issues requiring immediate attention, including providing a nightly recap by email or phone.
  • Manage customer requests and complaints professionally and work toward timely, effective solutions.
  • Help oversee the successful launch of new client accounts and ensure contractors understand service expectations from day one.
  • Make recommendations regarding contractor work assignments and, when necessary, termination of assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with client policies and procedures, including the proper use of approved cleaning products, tools, and equipment.
  • Take ownership of unexpected challenges and help wherever needed to ensure our clients receive exceptional service.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support our clients, contractors, and City Wide team.
