Job description
Position Overview
The SMU Cox School of Business is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer to teach a graduate-level Real Estate Development course beginning in March of each year. This course is currently a 7-week course that immerses graduate students in the fundamentals of the real estate development process. Historically, this course has been taught in a case study format using a local site. Student teams will work together over the term of the course to take the tract from idea inception and feasibility, through the creation of a project concept and development program. At the end of the course, student teams present their development plans to a juried panel of real estate industry executives.
Desired Skills & Experience
- 10 years' experience working as a real estate developer within a highly regarded commercial real estate organization
- MBA, M.S. in Real Estate Development or other relevant advanced degree required
- A strong understanding of macro and micro economic trends and of real estate development
- A strong understanding of market analysis, site entitlements, urban planning and design, financial analysis, and asset management
- Excellent writing, analytical and presentation skills and the ability to distill thoughts and ideas into lectures that resonate with students
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Gravitas and the ability to credibly represent SMU in a compelling way
- A broad network in the commercial real estate industry is valuable
