The Opportunity

Leavitt Machinery is looking for an experienced Equipment Training Instructor to join our team in Coquitlam, British Columbia. As an Instructor, you will facilitate professional and engaging presentations focused on Leavitt’s mobile equipment products (such as forklifts and skid steers), for a diverse range of audiences and experience levels. The ideal candidate will demonstrate relevant product expertise and in-depth knowledge of instructor and training fundamentals and best practices.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As the Equipment Training Instructor, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitate hands-on equipment training sessions for groups or individuals at a variety of experience levels, from new equipment operators to in-house instructors, including external customers and internal employees
  • Share expertise on a variety of operating equipment product lines
  • Build strong relationships with customers and ensure their needs are understood and met
  • Work closely with Sales team to ensure market strategies are implemented effectively
  • Monitor equipment fleet inventories at a branch level and report deficiencies to the Operations Manager and/or Lead Instructor as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

  • Proven experience providing instruction and facilitating training in a group setting
  • Equipment operation experience with at least one of the following: forklifts, aerial platforms, skid steers, loaders, excavators and/or cranes
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is preferred
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • WHMIS certification and Level 1 First Aid certification
  • Understanding of British Columbia legislative and regulatory framework relating to OH&S
  • Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work effectively independently
  • Energy Safety Canada Instructor Skills Development (ISD) designation or 3M Fall Protection Group Instructor Designation is an asset
  • Ability to work a flexible, part time, schedule, including weekends, to accommodate customer schedules as required.
  • Ability to travel within British Columbia
  • A valid driver’s license and a reliable method of transportation

The base pay range for this role is: $40.00 to $50.00 per hour.

This is a contract, onsite role based in Coquitlam, British Columbia.
