Job description

Type: Part-Time (with potential for growth)

Timeline: Looking to hire by mid-May

About the Role

We are a specialized Rubber Roller Manufacturer in New Bedford seeking a motivated, mechanically inclined individual to join our team.

We are looking for a self-starter who can work independently and take ownership of their performance. We are looking for a higher-level hire for this position—someone who views this not just as a job, but as a trade to be mastered.

Key Responsibilities

  • CNC Operation: Loading and unloading workpieces, monitoring machine cycles, and ensuring parts meet specifications. The operator must be capable of programming existing CNC Programs, loaded on the machines.

  • Machine Shop Support: Utilizing manual lathes, grinders, and various measuring tools to assist in the production of rubber rollers.

  • Molding Department: Assisting with general labor tasks within the molding area as needed.

  • Quality Control: Measuring and inspecting finished products to ensure high-quality standards.

  • Problem Solving: Identifying mechanical issues and working efficiently to keep production on schedule.

Qualifications & Requirements

We value a strong work ethic and the ability to learn over a specific number of years on a resume. Whether you are a seasoned pro or a recent vocational grad, we want to hear from you.

  • Required Training: Must have a certification or formal training in CNC (Computer Numerical Control) operation from a vocational school or accredited training service.

  • Mechanical Aptitude: You should be comfortable working with your hands and understand basic mechanical principles.

  • Skill Set: Familiarity with lathes, grinders, and precision measuring tools is a significant plus.

  • Mindset: You must be a "self-starter"—someone who can see what needs to be done and takes the initiative to do it without constant supervision.

  • Experience: Ideally 2 years of shop experience, but we are willing to talk to any candidate who possesses the right training and a high level of reliability.

Why Join Us?

  • Local Stability: We are a long-standing New Bedford business with a "common sense" approach to manufacturing.

  • Growth Potential: Your 30-day trial is your time to shine. We reward performance, reliability, and technical growth with pay increases.

  • Training: While you need the CNC basics, we will provide specific training on our specialized rubber roller manufacturing processes.
