Job Description
This is a part-time position reporting to the Director of Resource Connections. The Resource Connections Navigator will assist with the functions of the Resource Connections program, including the Doc Watson Student Emergency Fund, food pantry sites, Finish Line Grant, and connecting to community resources. This position will also complete outreach to the cohort of students who fall into the NC Reconnect Initiative and have returned to complete their degree or credential. This position will be a maximum of 25 hours per week.

Essential Duties Summary
Resource Connections Navigator Duties:
  1. Conduct intake, needs assessment, and case management with students.
  2. Develop and promote services related to basic needs.
  3. Facilitate referrals to partnering service providers.
  4. Collaborate with all academic divisions, student services, academic advisors, and other stakeholders to promote the center and ensure the success of the Resource Connections program.
  5. Assist with replenishing stock at all 3 Wilkes food pantry sites (Lowes, Daniel, Herring) and the Academic Support Center (ASC) snack station and completing the monthly food pantry report.
  6. Assist with various promotional activities for the Resource Connections Center, including developing marketing materials, social media campaigns/posts, emails/texts, and classroom and student organization visits.
  7. Assist with collection and reporting of student data/metrics including client contacts, referrals, outcomes, and retention. Assist with preparation of annual report on the Resource Connections program.
  8. Assist with the development and maintenance of strategic partnerships with community agencies, businesses, and churches.
  9. Assist with supervision of work-study students, volunteers, and interns that support the Resource Connections program.
  10. Complete initial contact with new students in the NC Reconnect cohort within the first 2-4 weeks of the start of the semester.
  11. Collaborate with financial aid to ensure that NC Reconnect students who meet the qualifications are receiving the scholarship funds.
  12. Connect students in the NC Reconnect cohort to on- and off-campus resources and support as needed.

Other Duties:
  1. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Resource Connections, Dean of Student Services, and/or Associate Vice President of Instructional Support and Student Services.
  2. Regularly attend academic department meetings, engage with faculty/staff, and other departmental meetings, as appropriate, to remain current with departmental policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications
Associate's degree in human services or related area with case management experience. Applicants must be able to communicate easily with students facing a variety of non-academic needs of all ages and demographics.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in social work or related area with case management experience.
Physical Demands
Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office setting with appropriate climate controls. Requires the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations. Requires strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills. Must be able to work under pressure and handle all confidential matters with discretion. Travel, evening, and weekend work will be required.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Essential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, the ability to communicate, reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Medium work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting for long periods.
