Job description
Position Title: Maintenance Technician-Part Time
Summary: To perform general and preventative maintenance services and related repairs to district buildings, structures, machinery and equipment.
Compensation: $25/hour
Qualifications:
- Prior to employment, the following must be addressed:
- Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:6-7.1.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.2.
- Pass the state-required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.3.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school related matters.
- Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school director finds appropriate and acceptable.
- High school diploma or GED
- Trade or vocational school diploma OR two years' experience in one or more of the building trades, or a combination of training and experience that equates to three years
- Ability to input and manipulate data using a computer
- Working knowledge of two or more trades and mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge and ability to operate tools of the trade
- Availability to work beyond the normal work day/work week
- Required physical examination as performed by a licensed physician
- Required criminal history background check, drug screening and eligibility to work in the United States
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders up to 20 feet
- Sufficient physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of the job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather for prolonged periods of time
- Conscientiousness and keen attentiveness to detail
- Must be able to wear and use appropriate protective equipment, as necessary
- Ability to read, write, communicate effectively, and understand and follow verbal and written instructions

The Maintenance Technician will:
- Performs general maintenance duties which may be assigned in one or more of the following areas: Carpentry, Driving, Electrical, Landscaping, HVAC, Locksmith, Masonry, Painting, Plumbing, Inventory Control, and Operate Snow plow and salter
- Ensures maintenance requests and work orders are completed satisfactorily
- Refers work requiring more specialized attention or skilled craftsmanship to appropriate trade lead and follows up through completion
- Maintain and service Parking lots, repair holes.
- Maintains tools and equipment required for maintenance tasks
- Maintains an accurate inventory of equipment and supplies
- Makes emergency repairs within knowledge and responsibility
- Inspects machinery to ensure proper functionality, including checking pressures and temperatures, as required
- Daily vehicle inspection
- Attends professional development events as required by district administration
- Performs such duties as assigned by the Manager of Facilities and/or Maintenance Supervisor
- Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodations, if necessary
- Drive rental vehicles for moving, transportation etc.
- Moving furniture/items from building to building
- Install doors, windows, fixtures and signage
- Install fences and locks
- Installation and maintenance of technology items
- Network low voltage
Perform any other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification that may be assigned.
