Part Time LLM Engineers often balance multiple projects or commitments, which can make time management and task prioritization challenging. They may also face difficulties staying up-to-date with rapidly evolving large language model technologies while working fewer hours. Effective strategies include setting clear boundaries for work hours, proactively communicating availability and progress with the team, and leveraging project management tools to track tasks. Staying engaged with professional communities and regularly reviewing documentation can also help part time engineers stay current and connected.

What is the difference between Part Time Llm Engineer vs Part Time Legal Data Analyst?

AspectPart Time Llm EngineerPart Time Legal Data Analyst
Required CredentialsEngineering degree, LLM preferred, technical certificationsLegal degree, certifications in data analysis or legal tech
Work EnvironmentTech firms, legal tech companies, remote or on-siteLaw firms, legal departments, remote or on-site
Industry UsageLegal technology, AI development, software engineeringLegal research, case analysis, data management

Part Time Llm Engineers focus on developing legal technology solutions, combining engineering skills with legal knowledge. In contrast, Part Time Legal Data Analysts interpret legal data to support case strategies. Both roles often work in legal tech environments but differ in technical versus analytical focus.

What is a part-time LLM engineer?

A part-time LLM (Large Language Model) engineer is a professional who works with advanced AI language models, such as those developed by OpenAI or Google, on a reduced or flexible schedule rather than full-time. Their responsibilities typically include developing, fine-tuning, and integrating LLMs into various applications, ensuring the models perform accurately and efficiently. Part-time LLM engineers may contribute to projects remotely, collaborate with teams on specific tasks, or support ongoing development needs without the commitment of standard full-time hours. This role is ideal for those seeking work-life balance, specialized project work, or additional income.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time LLM Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time LLM Engineer, you need a strong background in computer science, machine learning, and natural language processing, typically supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with programming languages like Python, frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, and version control systems like Git is crucial, along with experience using large language models (LLMs) and associated APIs. Excellent problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills for this role. These skills ensure you can efficiently develop, fine-tune, and deploy LLM solutions while collaborating remotely or asynchronously within a team.

Job description

pSemi Corporation is a Murata company driving semiconductor integration. pSemi builds on Peregrine Semiconductor's 30-year legacy of technology advancements and strong IP portfolio but with a new mission-to enhance Murata's world-class capabilities with high-performance semiconductors. With a strong foundation in RF integration, pSemi's product portfolio now spans power management, connected sensors, optical transceivers, antenna tuning and RF frontends. These intelligent and efficient semiconductors enable advanced modules for smartphones, base stations, personal computers, electric vehicles, data centers, IoT devices and healthcare. From headquarters in San Diego and offices around the world, pSemi's team explores new ways to make electronics for the connected world smaller, thinner, faster and better.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Software Development Intern to join the Automation team for a summer internship, with the potential to extend into a part-time co-op role during the academic year based on business needs and student availability.
This role will contribute to the design, development, testing, and support of internal software tools used by engineers across lab and product development workflows. The intern will work closely with experienced engineers on desktop, web, and data-driven applications, with primary emphasis on C#/.NET development and secondary use of Python for scripting, tooling, and data workflows.
This role may also support software-hardware integration activities such as instrument communication, driver development, and engineering data collection. The ideal candidate brings a strong software foundation, exposure to modern frontend frameworks, curiosity about AI/LLM-assisted development workflows, and enough electrical engineering familiarity to work effectively in a test and measurement environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of internal software applications and engineering tools used by technical teams.
  • Develop software features and utilities primarily using C#/.NET, with secondary use of Python for scripting, automation, and data processing tasks.
  • Support development of desktop applications using WPF and web-based tools and services using ASP.NET and modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Assist with implementation, debugging, and enhancement of internal APIs, user interfaces, and data workflows.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging activities with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Help analyze engineering and test data, generate reports, and support efforts to improve workflow efficiency and data visibility.
  • Work with engineers to support software interaction with lab hardware, instruments, and related systems, including exposure to instrument drivers and communication interfaces.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to understand technical requirements, translate them into software solutions, and document work clearly.
  • Contribute to evaluation or use of AI/LLM-assisted workflows, tools, or application concepts where appropriate to improve engineering productivity.
  • Maintain technical documentation, implementation notes, and other supporting materials to enable knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong foundational programming skills with experience in C#/.NET or another object-oriented programming language.
  • Exposure to Python for scripting, automation, data analysis, or related technical work.
  • Exposure to desktop or web application development, including interest in technologies such as WPF, ASP.NET, and REST-based application patterns.
  • Exposure to modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming principles, data structures, debugging techniques, and general software development best practices.
  • Familiarity with Git-based version control and collaborative software development workflows.
  • Understanding of AI/LLM-assisted workflows and evaluation, including interest in modern software tooling and developer productivity enhancements.
  • Solid understanding of basic circuit theory and a basic electrical engineering foundation sufficient to work in a hardware-adjacent engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with hands-on lab work, engineering data analysis, and technical problem solving.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Education Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office and engineering lab environment. During the summer internship period, this role is expected to work on-site a minimum of four days per week.
If extended into a co-op arrangement during the academic year, the schedule may be adjusted based on business needs and the student's class schedule. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and may involve limited interaction with lab instrumentation and engineering hardware.
Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, use a computer and standard office equipment, and occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.
