Primary Duties

Student Worker Position for DTS CEAS IT Support

DTS CEAS IT at the College of Engineering and Applied Science provides IT support for the CEAS Administration and Academic Departments.  This includes desktop support for faculty/staff Mac, Windows, and Linux desktop systems.  We are currently seeking an experienced IT support person to help provide support in these areas.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide desktop support for faculty/staff desktop systems, including Mac, Windows, and Linux systems, software, and peripherals
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.) for Windows users and a few Mac clients.
  • Provide consultative, technical, and training support services.
  • Remove computer spyware, adware, and viruses.
  • Create and maintain all documentation associated with this position:  HW and SW installation and configuration, p.c. inventory, etc.
  • Create, configure, and modify user accounts within Active Directory on Windows Server. 
  • Configure smartphones and tablets to access Exchange e-mail accounts.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Enrolled at a post-secondary institution or a secondary school.
  • Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), except for summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • “Enrollment” shall include:
    • The period between two successive terms for which the student is enrolled.
    • The one “off” term in each academic year in which the student is not enrolled. Student employee status may be retained for one additional term following either graduation or withdrawal from enrollment.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 11 systems, software, and peripherals.
  • Experience with Mac and Linux system administration, including system monitoring, troubleshooting, and software updates is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn specialized applications.
  • Familiarity with CEAS IT and University labs and policies.
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible and willing to accept changes in priorities as necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail.
