Job description

We are seeking an individual who is enthusiastic about community service, possesses excellent communication skills and enjoys working actively on a team. At Morton Grove Public Library we believe in providing our employees with a supportive, collaborative environment, with opportunities for development and innovation. Nature and Scope of the Adult and Teen Services Associate Position
The principal responsibility of this position is to provide service to Library patrons in the specific area of Adult Services. The position focuses on providing traditional and digital reference services, assisting patrons with the operation and use of equipment in the public Computer Room, and related work as required.
Qualifications
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service in a wide variety of formats.
  • Ability to interpret library policies and procedures for the public in a customer-friendly manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patrons and staff.
  • Knowledge of digital and print reference and readers' advisory resources.
  • Proficiency in and knowledge of the use of current and emerging technologies.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), required.
  • Library science coursework, preferred.
  • Experience in a public library environment, preferred.

Hours
Part-time, non-exempt position: Avg.13.5 hours per week. Wednesday 5 pm-9 pm, Thursday 9 am-5 pm, one Saturday per month 9 am-5 pm.
