Teacher Aide- Elementary Library Support 
Scarsdale Public Schools is seeking teacher aide candidates to responsibly and respectfully support the school library program at one of our elementary  schools. Our elementary schools spans grades K-5 with an approximate enrollment of 450 students. We offer rich and varied educational programs, along with an active, supportive parent body. 

 

Approximate Hours: 5 hours/day (Monday-Friday).

 

Job Type: Part-time

 

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour

Position Purpose

 

Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with students in the library to meet instructional goals and objectives, and to free certified professional employees from non-professional tasks in the library.

 

Job Expectations

 
  • Assists with library program preparations and implementation, as directed, including checking out books to young students.

  • Consistent attention to detail

  • Working knowledge of basic computer operations

  • Ability to do repetitive tasks with speed and accuracy

  • Ability to sit and stand repeatedly throughout the day

Use standard office equipment, such as personal computers and copiers.
Travel Requirements

 

Travel between schools, or between schools and central offices, may be required for certain positions.

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.

Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience
