Job description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The Part-Time School Librarian at St. Gerard Majella Catholic School supports students and staff by maintaining a well-organized, accessible, and engaging library environment. This role fosters a love of reading, assists with research and resource use, and ensures efficient management of library materials to support academic success and lifelong learning.

Job Responsibilities
  • Organize, catalog, and maintain library books and instructional materials
  • Assist students and staff in locating resources and conducting research
  • Manage book circulation, including check-in/check-out and tracking overdue items
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and welcoming library space
  • Promote reading through displays, recommendations, and activities
  • Support teachers by providing materials aligned with classroom instruction
  • Assist with basic technology use, including computers and digital library tools
  • Monitor student behavior to ensure a productive and respectful environment
Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in library science or education preferred
  • Experience working with children in a school or library setting preferred
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Basic computer and technology skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Passion for reading and supporting student learning
