Position Overview:
The primary focus of a Instructor/Teacher Assistant STEAM Children's Enrichment will be to maintain the Discovery Center activities. Instructor/Teacher Assistant STEAM Children's Enrichment are asked to promote creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills of students by supporting the Instructor in the classroom. Programs are conducted for children ages 2-14, although not all assistant instructors are required to work with all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology Instructors & leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism. We are a mobile business that operates in schools, libraries, homes, etc. throughout Nassau County Long Island.
 
Role & Responsibilities: 
  • Greet parents and children
  • Monitor children in the use of learning materials and equipment 
  • Aid in Management of student behavior 
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Snapology
  • Organize Snapology program materials
  • Complete special assignments as indicated by Snapology leadership
  • Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs
  • Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs
  • Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings, as required 
Qualifications: 
  • Criminal and Child Clearances must be current 
  • Desire to work with children 
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others 
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing 
  • Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
Programs: 
  • Weekday after-school and/or evening classes
  • Weekend workshops and/or birthday parties
  • Summer camps
  • Special events, holiday and break workshops
 
This position is part-time. Depending on candidate availability and the time of year, Instructor/Teacher Assistant STEAM Children's Enrichment typically work between 4-10 hours per week.
