The Department of Athletics at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a pool of part-time Coaches that the department can draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.

Position
California State University, Fullerton, is a highly competitive, minority-serving institution and our sport programs competes in the NCAA Division I Big West Conference. Temporary Assistant Coaches report directly to the Head Coach of the program that they are brought on to perform the following duties:

  • Assist with coaching a highly competitive program which competes in the NCAA Division I Big West Conference
  • Assist with recruiting Division I quality student-athletes
  • Assist with monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes
  • Lead, monitor, and coordinate training and practice sessions, ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained
  • Know and abide by NCAA, University, and Big West rules and regulations
  • Work in conjunction with the head coach regarding travel coordination, scheduling, and practice planning
  • Scout and conduct statistical analysis of recruits and opponents
  • Work closely with Athletics administration and staff in regards to program responsibilities and policy compliance
  • Take an active role in marketing the program on campus and within the community through public appearances, fundraising and promotional efforts
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of Division I collegiate coaching experience or 4 years playing experience at the NCAA Division I level and 5 years coaching at the high school, club or non-Division I NCAA level, or equivalent
  • Proven ability to recruit highly skilled student-athletes and a demonstrated commitment to their satisfactory academic progress
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Ability to interact successfully with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and to work harmoniously with students and colleagues
  • Demonstrated competitive coaching ability and skills
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle
  • A clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • NCAA Division I coaching experience and knowledge of various scouting and video editing software systems.

Compensation
The Temporary Assistant Coach classification salary range is $6,288 to $7,658 per month.
Anticipated hiring salary depending on experience and qualifications is fractionalized based on the base rate of $6,288 per month.
The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time base assigned.

Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work (https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/california_equal_pay_act.htm).

California State University, Fullerton is not a sponsoring agency (i.e. H1-B Visas) for this position.
