The Pleasant Hill R-III School District is seeking a

Part-Time Library Media Clerk

at Pleasant Hill High School

Purpose: ย The job of the Part-Time Library Media Clerk is done for the purpose of supporting the instructional process by processing and distributing library books; maintaining circulation and activity records; and assisting students and teachers within the library, and providing assistance to the school librarian.

Qualifications: ย Hold a DESE Substitute Certification or be eligible for a DESE Substitute Certification

Hourly Rate: ย Base Rate is $16.76 per hour with consideration for experienceย 

Work Hours: ย 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM (5 hours per day)

Calendar: ย 175 Days

This job reports to the Building Principal.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist students and staff for the purpose of helping them with the use of library resources and/or complementing classroom instruction.
  • Assists teachers, students, and other personnel for the purpose of identifying resource materials for use in classroom, class assignments, and/or recreational reading.
  • Contacts students, staff, etc. for the purpose of recovering delinquent books/materials.
  • Maintains materials inventory (i.e. library books, media equipment and related instructional materials, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials as required.
  • Monitors student behavior within the library for the purpose of creating an effective working and learning environment.
  • Participates in the inventory of library books, equipment, and materials for the purpose of documenting losses and/or maintaining availability of materials.
  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance of instructional media equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
  • Prepares a variety of reports and documents for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Processes notices of missing, damage, or overdue books, media, and materials for the purpose of securing reimbursement for loses in line with district policy.
  • Repairs books and materials for the purpose of ensuring the availability of books and library materials.
  • Responds to verbal and written inquiries for the purpose of providing information and/or referral to appropriate source.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
