Description:Job Description Summary:Samuel Merritt University is currently accepting applications for part-time adjunct faculty positions in the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program. Our university, with a focus on health sciences, has a rich history of educating ethical, caring, and highly skilled health professionals in various undergraduate and graduate programs, including Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthesia, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Podiatric Medicine. The MSW program was launched in July 2023.
The MSW program offers an extended three-year hybrid educational program. Some classes are delivered online during evening hours, while others are conducted on-campus during weekends. The fully staffed MSW program comprises four full-time faculty, an administrative assistant, and a pool of part-time lecturers and field instructors. We are currently in the candidacy phase with the Council on Social Work Education. The department aims to admit 35 to 50 students annually, offering generalist training in the first year and advanced training in medical social work and behavioral health in subsequent years, with internship placements occurring in the second and third years.

The main Oakland campus, where the MSW program is located, offers a beautiful and diverse environment on the east side of the San Francisco Bay. MSW courses are taught both online and on the Oakland campus. The Oakland campus includes state-of-the-art classrooms, the Movement Analysis Research Center (MARC), the John A. Graziano library, and an accredited Health Science Simulation Center (HSSC).Duties and Responsibilities:

Lecturers are needed to teach practice and theory focused MSW courses, including policy, research, human behavior & social environment, RGI and introductory and advanced practice courses.


Qualifications:

Applicant must have a minimum of a MSW degree and two years of post-master's experience.

A Doctoral degree or LCSW is preferred.

Prior academic faculty experience is preferred but not mandatory.
