Sentara Medical Legal Partnership Clinic
Legal Intake Coordinator
Sentara Health is a non-profit integrated health system headquartered in Hampton Roads, Virginia. The newly formed Sentara Medical Legal Partnership ("MLP") Clinic is seeking a part-time Legal Intake Coordinator.
The Legal Intake Coordinator at Sentara's MLP Clinic will be responsible for client intake, case management, and providing legal and administrative support for the MLP Clinic.
Acting under the direction and guidance of the supervising MLP Attorney, the Legal Intake Coordinator will be primarily responsible for coordinating the client referral intake and screening process, conducting conflict checks, data collection and outcome measurement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating monthly reports from the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Intervention and Tableau dashboards, as well as Epic-native flowsheets.
The Legal Intake Coordinator will also assist the MLP Attorney with client communications, legal research, file and legal document preparation, and the development of educational materials on legal rights. This position is ideal for a paralegal who is motivated by direct client engagement, interdisciplinary teamwork, and community impact.
The Sentara MLP Clinic is a pilot program located at a Sentara facility in Newport News, VA, and the Legal Intake Coordinator will work out of that out of that office. Upon the pilot's successful completion, the Legal Intake Coordinator's position may be extended and/or made full-time.
Required Experience:
• Three years or more of paralegal or equivalent relevant experience performing functions in support of legal activities in a law firm, legal aid, or a legal service environment;
• Ability and willingness to use technology platforms to facilitate client referrals, data collection and reporting;
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities;
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities;
• Ability to build effective working relationships with healthcare providers; and
• Demonstrated ability to assist a diverse range of clients from a wide variety of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds in a helpful, respectful, and supportive manner.
Preferred Education:
• Paralegal Certification, Associate Degree, or Bachelor's degree
• Experience with spreadsheets, databases or data reporting
• Familiarity with Epic EHR
• Spanish fluency
