Job description

USD $20.00 - USD $20.00 /Hr.

The Center for Air Resources Engineering and Science (CAARES) is seeking a qualified individual to serve as part-time laboratory technician to assist in laboratory operations. The individual must have knowledge and experience with sample preparation (extraction/cleanup) as well as analytical instrumentation techniques.


• Receive, login and store samples, standards and solvents as per established standard operating procedures.
• Cleanup glassware and help maintain an organized lab.
• Under supervision extract and cleanup environmental and biological samples using techniques such as accelerated solvent extraction and solid-phase extraction.
• Under supervision analyze sample extracts using analytical instrumentation including gas and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry systems.


Education:

Minimal Qualifications: High School Degree.

Experience:
Minimal Experience: Multiple high school or college chemistry, biology or physics courses with laboratory experience.

Preferred Experience: BS degree in life sciences


• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and to work with shifting priorities and schedules.
• Knowledgeable and experienced with basic laboratory operations.
