JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective: The Bucks IU's Fab Lab Center is a place for students to engage in digital fabrication, computer science, engineering, and general STEAM activities in a fun, innovative, out-of-school environment. The Fab Lab Center offers many opportunities for students, including after school clubs, STEAM Saturdays, day-off-school programs, Kids Night Out, and more.
Under the direction of the Supervisor of STEAM Education, the Fab Lab Group Leader is responsible for implementing Fab Lab Center student programs and events, such as after school clubs, STEAM Saturdays, day-off-school programs, and/or Kids Night Out. Implementing a program may require the Fab Lab Group Leader to prepare activity plans and/or presentation slides. A Group Leader may wish to work one event at a time or may work multiple events in each month. The Group Leader's schedule is determined in collaboration with the Supervisor of STEAM Education, based on the needs of the Center's lineup of programs.

  1. Deliver STEAM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods in an out-of-school setting.
  2. Use technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  3. Work collaboratively with Supervisor of STEAM Education and other Group Leaders in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all applicable programs.
  4. Manage students in an out-of-school setting.
  5. Model and maintain exemplary punctuality and attendance.

  8. Take attendance.
  9. Efficiently and safely admit and dismiss students from the after-school club program.

  11. Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness, and organization of the Fab Lab Center.
  12. Be a fabulous ambassador for the Fab Lab Center and its' programs.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Evidence of exemplary classroom teaching experience.
  • Evidence of experience with and expert knowledge of STEAM Education.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A proven track record in the use of a rich array of instructional methods, the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.
  • Deep understanding of Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.
  • Demonstrated content knowledge in computer science, engineering and design topics, and/or digital fabrication.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff verbally and in writing.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • PA Level I or Level II Elementary or STEAM Content-Area Certification is required.
  • Teaching experience is required.
  • Knowledge of STEAM Education is required.
  • Experience teaching engineering, robotics, and/ or STEAM topics is preferred.
