About the position: As a Laboratory Technician in Training Part-time in the Electron Microscopy department, you will train in preparing histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. Work is performed in accordance with standard laboratory practice under limited supervision.

What you'll do:

Clinical Duties

Responsible for becoming proficient in day-to-day operations of Lab Services; specifically:

  • Assess tissue adequacy for testing
  • Perform quality control checks on materials produced
  • Complete equipment maintenance and logs
  • Develop problem-solving skills—determining causes of operating errors and deciding corrective course of action
  • Controlling operations of equipment and systems
  • Monitor and assess performance of self to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Assist in Lab for other duties as assigned
  • Practice safe work procedures while performing job duties
  • Periodically review of work product for compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable workload limits

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in Accessioning
  • Maintenance of Lab logs and tracking sheets

Requirements

  • All SOPs must be followed
  • Any discrepancies, errors and/or deviation from the SOPs or Policies must be reported to the Lab Director, Lab Manager, Admin Lead and/or Section Lead
  • Laboratory Standards for Clinical testing must be maintained

You should have:

Education: Bachelor's or Associates degree from a four or two year-college or university with at least 12 semester hours biology and chemistry Certification eligible

Experience: Histology-specific and Laboratory Technical skills. Prefer 2 years of lab experience but not required

Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Word

Other Requirements: Eligible to sit for the National HT/HTL exam after 1 year of employment

Part-Time Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-12:00pm
