Job description

Fourrier & de Abreu Engineers, LLC is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician for a part-time position based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We are willing to train the right candidate; however, applicants with prior experience in construction materials testing, inspection, or related construction field work are preferred.

Candidates with experience performing field testing and inspection of soils, concrete, asphalt, earthwork, or other construction materials are encouraged to apply. ACI certifications, including Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or higher, are a plus. Additional certifications such as NICET, Radiation Safety/Nuclear Density Gauge Training, or other construction inspection credentials are also desirable but not required.

Typical Responsibilities 

  • Perform field testing and inspection of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials. 
  • Collect and document test data in accordance with project specifications and industry standards. 
  • Prepare daily field reports and communicate test results to project personnel. 
  • Maintain testing equipment and follow applicable safety procedures. 
  • Assist project engineers and managers with construction observation activities. 


Requirements 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record. 
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull testing equipment weighing up to 80 pounds. 
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. 
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and out-of-town assignments when required. 
  • Authorization to work in the United States. 
  • Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a positive attitude. 

Work Environment and Travel 

The majority of work will be performed at construction sites throughout Louisiana and surrounding areas. Candidates should be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors for extended periods. Local candidates are preferred; no relocation assistance is available. 

Compensation 


Compensation will be commensurate with experience, certifications, and qualifications.
