Take your culinary career to the next level! We are recruiting an exceptional Junior Sous Chef – a real “Foodie” - to share their culinary expertise with our team at a private school in Pickering ON. Aramark is launching a Farm to Table Program to help lead and grow our unique farm-to-table culinary operation. This role combines culinary leadership, farm-based food production, student engagement, and menu development within an educational environment focused on sustainability, wellness, and experiential learning.
The successful candidate will split their time between the College's Farm Site (2–3 days per week) and Main Campus (2–3 days per week). Initially, this role will oversee the preparation and service of elevated, kid-friendly Farm-to-Table lunches and homemade snacks for approximately 30–40 guests twice per week at the farm, while serving as the Junior Sous Chef at the main campus for the remainder of the workweek.
Culinary experiences and well-maintained environments are fundamental to student success. From brain-powering ingredients to comforting flavor combinations, nutritious food doesn’t have to be boring. Aramark chefs and dietitians are constantly reviewing the latest insights and food trends to find the next culinary innovation and help students discover their love of food.
We partner with you to enhance the student experience, support parents, and collaborate with administration, all while delivering on the expectations of parents and the community.
Education - Aramark
• Lead culinary operations at the Farm Site, delivering high-quality, nutritious, and seasonally inspired meals.
• Prepare and serve elevated, kid-friendly lunches and homemade snacks for approximately 30–40 students, staff, and guests.
• Collaborate closely with farm staff to integrate fresh, seasonal ingredients into menus.
• Provide recommendations regarding crop planning, harvest schedules, and ingredient utilization based on seasonal growing cycles.
• Assist in the development and execution of farm-to-table programming and special culinary events.
• Operate effectively in both indoor and outdoor kitchen environments.
• Create menus that showcase fresh, local, and farm-grown ingredients while meeting nutritional and operational requirements.
• Introduce innovative and engaging food experiences that connect students to the origins of their food.
• Ensure food presentation reflects the highest culinary standards.
• Culinary diploma or equivalent professional culinary training.
• Minimum 3–5 years of progressive culinary leadership experience
• Must possess valid Ontario G-class driver’s license and acceptable Driver’s Abstract.
• Demonstrated experience in farm-to-table, local sourcing, or seasonal menu concepts.
• Experience leading culinary teams in a high-volume food service, catering, or hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of menu planning, food costing, and culinary execution.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety practices.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in nature-based environments.
• Comfortable engaging with children and supporting educational programming.
• Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and special events as required.
