Description
LAC Federal is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Library Technician to join the team. As the Library Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing the inventory of library materials within the Asian Division of a large, national library in Washington, DC. In this role, you will contribute to the organization, maintenance and management of collection materials in a dynamic environment, ensuring that information is accessible, accurate and well-preserved for our patrons.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate inventory of library materials
  • Manage the organization and shelving of books and resources according to established library standards
  • Assist with shelf-reading and troubleshooting inventory discrepancies
  • Track and report on inventory status and trends
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Requirements
  • Familiarity with integrated library systems (ILS) and cataloging practices
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff and team members
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality in all tasks
  • Korean or Japanese language proficiency

Physical Requirements
Must be able to frequently move from place to place within the location; file and retrieve books and other items on high shelves; lift/push up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. of heavy boxes, books, and equipment; work in confined spaces; walk; bend; stoop; reach; and climb.
