Job description

Position Summary:

The Janitorial/Custodial Worker is responsible for the daily cleaning of government buildings at Mountain Home AFB in a manner that meets or exceeds all contractual and facility-level service standards. This is a task-based, hands-on role requiring attention to detail, physical stamina, reliability, and a strong commitment to quality.

Employees must present a clean, neat, and professional appearance at all times. Those with a valid U.S. driver's license may be required to transport teammates, supplies, and equipment between buildings. Employees must be able to work independently or as part of a team and must be highly dependable. All employees shall accomplish janitorial services as required in the Performance Work Statement (PWS).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and complete daily tasks on assigned work schedules.
  • Maintain knowledge and adherence to all safety procedures, emergency contacts, and evacuation protocols.
  • Complete all required quality control checklists accurately and on time.
  • Detailed cleaning of entrance glass doors, windows, and other glass surfaces.
  • Clean restrooms in a timely and thorough manner, including: urinals, sinks, toilets, showers, shower mats, soap dispensers, drinking fountains, plumbing fixtures, saunas, partitions, stall doors, entry doors (including handles, kick plates, ventilation grates, and metal guards), walls, and all other surfaces.
  • Vacuum all carpet and interior and exterior door mats using upright or backpack vacuum equipment.
  • Perform periodic floor care tasks as assigned, including stripping, waxing, and burnishing hard floor surfaces.
  • Dust, sanitize surfaces, wipe down furniture, dust mop and wet mop all restrooms, breakrooms, lactation rooms, locker rooms, offices, and hallway floors.
  • Empty all trash receptacles and replace liners as needed.
  • High dusting and glass cleaning up to 10 feet.
  • Must be able to work alone or within a team to complete daily tasks on time.
  • Must be able to maintain a good attendance record.

Experience Desirable:

  • Janitorial experience preferred but not required. Training provided.

Qualifications:

  • Mission driven, guided by core values and a pleasure to work with.
  • If applicable, must maintain U.S. driver's license and clean MVR in order to operate Tommy Nobis Center (TNC) vehicles.
  • Required to pass TNC drug screen and background check as well as a government background screening.
  • Must be able to satisfy all security requirements for base access at Mountain Home AFB.
  • Complete required annual training on child abuse prevention, identification, and reporting.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Flexible scheduling may be required; this position includes AM and PM shift assignments.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English.

Immunizations:

All employees assigned to the Child Development Center (CDC) and/or Youth Activity Center must be free of communicable diseases, including tuberculosis, prior to entering either facility. A negative TB test report from the Health Department or a primary care physician and a current immunization record are required annually.

Equipment:

Ability to operate vacuum cleaners, floor care equipment, and other janitorial tools as required by the contract.

Mental Effort:

Ability to work independently, follow a task schedule, and successfully coordinate the activities of the job without direct supervision.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and withstand strenuous physical activity. Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods. Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, and reach overhead as required by cleaning tasks.

Visual Effort:

Work is performed across a variety of facility settings. Requires average visual attention to ensure cleaning quality and safety compliance.

Safety:

TNC will provide a safe work environment in accordance with the TNC Emergency Plan, compliance agencies, and all applicable safety policies and guidelines.

Security:

Must comply with all security regulations of Mountain Home AFB. Must obtain and visibly display a valid photo ID/access badge at all times while on the installation.
