Job description
Role Overview: Christ Bible Church of Chicago is seeking a dedicated and reliable Janitor to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the church premises.
 
This part-time, on-site role involves various cleaning tasks, groundskeeping, and assisting the facility manager with general maintenance duties. The Janitor will ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors, staff, and church members.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing:
  • Clean and sanitize rooms, restrooms, and common areas daily.
  • Ensure all surfaces, including floors, windows, and furniture, are kept clean and presentable.
  • Trash Management:
  • Empty trash bins multiple times a day and ensure proper disposal of waste.
  • Floor Maintenance:
  • Mop and sweep floors regularly to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Vacuuming all carpeted spaces.
  • Groundskeeping: Throwing salt.  Shoveling entry ways. 
  • Perform groundskeeping duties such as picking up litter, sweeping and blowing outdoor areas,  maintaining lawn care during the spring and summer months, and maintaining the exterior cleanliness of the church premises.
  • General Maintenance:
  • Assist the facility manager with general maintenance duties as needed, including minor repairs and upkeep of facilities.
  • Support for Leased Space:
  • Assist with the needs of the public school leasing the church space.
  • Tend to spills, accidents, and other cleaning needs caused by students and staff.
  • Collaborate with school staff to ensure a clean and orderly environment for all.
Requirements:
  • Previous janitorial or cleaning experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Good communication skills and working effectively with church and school staff.
