Job description

Overview

The Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine's Campus in Middletown, N.Y., has an opening for a part-time team member in the Department of Primary Care. Primary responsibilities include provide technical support for all simulation operations, including, but not limited to: maintenance and repair of computerized mannequins (software and hardware), task trainers and related simulation equipment and supplies. Teaching as appropriate. Candidates must be committed to TouroCOM's mission statement, and possess strong computer, technical, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.

Responsibilities

To include, but not limited to the following:

  • Operation of simulation and related medical equipment, including but not limited to high fidelity mannequin simulators, task trainers, and related hardware and software.
  • Perform simulator, task trainer, equipment, station, and room set-up and break-down for simulations and learning sessions.
  • Provide technical support for audio/video equipment, including displays, monitors, control panels, projects,and associated devices during simulation sessions.
  • Perform inventory management of supplies and equipment, including organizing and stocking supplies and maintaining up-to-date inventory records.
  • Provide orientation and technical assistance, support, supervision, and training to faculty, learners and staff in the use of simulation equipment.
  • Maintain simulation spaces as an organized, tidy, clean, safe, and operational.
  • Troubleshoot and repair simulation equipment as appropriate. Work with TouroCOM IT Department and simulation equipment manufacturers or vendors
  • Maintain record of repairs required and completed.
  • Conduct ongoing maintenance of all simulation equipment, including cleaning, repairing, assuring that all equipment is maintained in good working order at all times.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance of simulators and equipment.
  • Assist with the management of vendor maintenance, warranty, and service contracts on simulators
  • Provide recommendations for purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of simulation activities, including statistics on equipment use and training conducted at the SIM Center. Participate in teaching as appropriate.
  • Support the goals of the simulation program and of TouroCOM
  • Special projects as directed by the Chair and/or Vice Chair of the Department.
  • Work closely with other TouroCOM campuses Primary Care Faculty and Staff as appropriate.
  • Comply and be aware of the Employee responsibilities as specified by the respective Toure Policies, manuals, handbooks, etc.
  • Comply with and be familiar with FERPA policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by Vice-Chair and the Dean.
QualificationsEducation/Experience
  • Associate's Degree in technology or a health-related field required.
  • Bachelor of Arts in computer science, technology, or health-related field preferred.
  • Experience in medical simulation preferred
  • Medical Experience (ex: RN, EMT, Paramedic, Certified Respiratory Therapist, etc.) preferred
  • AHA BLS, ACLS Instructor preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Required Computer Skills

1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

2. Proficiency in iPad and iOS operating system

3. Ability to learn and utilize hardware, software, and simulation capture programs (including but not limitedto Laerdal LEAP, Gaumard Uni, Learning Space, and SonoSim).

4. Proficiency in utilizing cloud storage (e.g., Box)

1. Significant demonstrated experience in technology including hardware and software use, setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance

2. Ability to learn and master simulation and related software
