Definition
The City of Missouri City, proudly known as the "Show Me City," is seeking a qualified and dedicated Part-Time Investigator to join the City's Police Department.This is a part-time, non-civil service position within the City of Missouri City's Police Department. The individual in this role is responsible for conducting criminal investigations with a primary focus on gathering evidence, interviewing victims and witnesses, and preparing comprehensive, legally sound cases for successful prosecution or resolution. The Investigator may be assigned to property crimes, crimes against persons, or narcotics investigations. Responsibilities include responding to crime scenes, conducting preliminary and follow-up investigations, collecting and preserving evidence, preparing detailed investigative reports, coordinating with prosecutors, preparing cases for successful prosecution, and providing testimony in court as required. This position is investigative in nature and does not respond to in-progress incidents.
Examples of Work
  • Assists and supports Police Officers assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division with investigations in the areas of property, person, or narcotics cases, and other areas as assigned.

  • Prepares clear, concise, and comprehensive investigative reports suitable for prosecution.

Education, Experience, or Certification
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, OR
CERTIFICATION:
  • High School Diploma/GED and
  • At least 10+ years of relevant investigative experience.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain TCOLE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement) certification within 120 days.
