Job description

We are seeking friendly, detail-oriented, part-time Retail Sales Associates to join our retail team at the newly established Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music on the campus of Monmouth University. The Center features museum galleries, interactive components, a 240-seat theatre, archives, and a retail shop. The ideal candidates will provide excellent customer service, handle transactions accurately, and contribute to a positive shopping experience. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency with POS systems, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. In-store training will be provided.
This is an on-campus, in-person, non-remote position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate POS systems accurately and efficiently to process customer transactions and maintain transactional integrity.
  • Deliver a welcoming and professional customer experience by greeting patrons, responding to inquiries, and addressing concerns in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Accurately manage cash, credit, and debit card payments, Apple Pay with precision, while prioritizing transaction security.
  • Maintain an organized checkout area and ensure proper stocking of merchandise.
  • Upsell products and promote ongoing promotions or product demos to enhance sales.
  • Provide professional and responsive telephone support, demonstrating strong communication skills and excellent phone etiquette.
  • Support merchandising efforts by arranging products attractively and restocking shelves as needed.
  • Assist with inventory control activities, including stock replenishment, stock rotation, and periodic inventory counts to ensure accurate inventory records.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions and resolving issues promptly.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Previous experience in retail sales, cashiering, or grocery store environments.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions, giving change, and managing retail math calculations.
