Job description

Position Summary

This Graduate Assistant position is a general office staff position to assist the students and faculty in the School 20 hours per week. The position requires the applicant to work in person day-time hours during the week. The position entails supporting faculty in organizing events, assisting students, and supporting faculty with working on social work accreditation materials The applicant will also work with the Office Manager for the College of Arts and Sciences.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist faculty with planning and facilitating events such as Practicum Orientation and Colloquium
  • Assist faculty with organizing files and records related to students, programming, and archives.
  • Be present in the office at least three days a week (part time) to assist students in real time.
  • Assist faculty with accreditation processes, such as gathering data and creating accreditation documents.
  • Opportunity to engage in research assistant tasks such as collecting and analyzing data
  • Engage in other duties as assigned to assist faculty and student

Qualifications:

  • Must be admitted and enrolled in a graduate program at Avila University. International students are not eligible for graduate assistantships.
  • The successful candidate for this position will possess a bachelor's degree and must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, a commitment to student development, higher education, creativity, vision, passion, and compassion are imperative.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Comfort speaking and interacting with a diverse group of students and professionals.
