Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Wisconsin, free of restrictions and maintain licensure.
  • Certified in Dental Anesthesia.

Key Accountabilities

  • Take radiographic exposures and enter into software program.
  • Perform a complete oral prophylaxis, which may include:
    • Removing calcareous deposits, accretions and stains from the surface of teeth;
    • Performing deep periodontal scaling, including root planning, and
    • Polishing natural and restored tooth surfaces.
  • Record and report clinical services provided and findings made during the practice of dental hygiene for the supervising dentist to review.
  • Provide preventive measures including sealants, topical application of fluorides and other topical agents for the prevention of oral disease.
  • At the delegation of the dentist and per state statutes and administrative code, administer oral systemic pre-medications and sub gingival sustained release, chemotherapeutic agents to patients.
  • Take patient blood pressure prior to administering local anesthesia per state statutes and administrative code.
  • On a one-to-one or group session basis, provide instructions in oral hygiene and plaque control procedures to include brushing and flossing instructions and nutrition as related dental disease.
  • Develop and present dental health education materials and programs.
  • Maintain a system of recall for routine hygiene patients and those hygiene patients with chronic medical conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
