Job description

The Pittsburg State University Department of English and Modern Languages is accepting applications for a part-time, in-person, temporary Adjunct Lecturer to teach for the Fall/Spring semester with a specific need in Spanish, Introductory Spanish for Health Professionals, Introductory Spanish for Technical Trades Professionals, Introductory Spanish for K-12 Educators.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach in person and/or online sections at undergraduate level courses in the program areas identified.

Education and Experience

Required Education and Experience - Time of Hire

  • Master's Degree in Spanish or equivalent
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Prior instructor experience with Spanish for second language learners.
  • Significant expertise in a desired secondary area of instruction (Health Care; one or more Technical Trades; K-12 Education, etc.)

Candidate's must hold a Master's degree in Spanish or related field. This degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Education and Experience - 

  • Instructor experience in higher education or with adult learners.
  • Experience with online instruction.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to work with a course management system (Canvas).
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
