Job Summary:
The Astronomy, Mathematics, and Physics Department is seeking affiliate faculty to teach in-person astronomy and physics laboratory courses, including:
โ€ข AS 251 Principles of Astronomy Lab
โ€ข PH 205A General Physics Lab with Trigonometry I
โ€ข PH 305A General Physics Lab with Calculus I
Note that affiliate faculty are hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, as needed, on a semester-by-semester basis.`
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction and facilitate active problem-solving in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if appropriate, with Department course coordination policies
  • Keep complete and accurate grade records.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Communicate regularly with students and the department chair, including via Regis-provided email.
  • Maintain regular office hours to provide students with academic support appropriate for the teaching assignment-- 1 hour per week
  • Faculty will participate in designing their own course in consultation with the chair of the department.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in physics, astronomy, or closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience in physics, astronomy, or a related field.
Special Instructions to Applicants: Please submit a CV, cover letter, and contact information for three references with your application. Your cover letter should speak to your approach to teaching with undergraduates and your interest in a part-time, in-person teaching position.
Work Schedule: Dependent on the course schedule and availability of selected candidates.
This position will remain posted until filled, with a priority application deadline of June 19th, 2026.
This position is benefits-eligible for workers' compensation and will receive 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.

$2,150 per lab course, per semester
