Job Summary

As a Reception Associate (Part-Time), you will be responsible for welcoming community members to the Motor Vehicle Office and guiding them to the best service option that meets DMV needs.
Hiring Range: $18.00 - $19.00 hourly
This position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday- Friday to include Saturday rotation,
shifts will range between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with up to 25 hours per week, subject to change

This position is responsible for greeting visitors and customers at El Paso County buildings and facilities; provides accurate and detailed directions or instructions based on the assigned area, while providing excellent customer service in all interactions. Employment is subject to the terms, conditions, and policies detailed in the Personnel Policies Manual (PPM). This position requires regular in-person presence as an essential job function.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to visitors and customers, including but not limited to welcoming visitors and helping them access the offices and services they are looking for.
  • Acquires and maintains a basic working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures; exercises such knowledge to initiate visitor/customer contact and provide in-depth information and/or direction to those seeking to access departmental services.
  • Uses judgment to review legal documents as assigned. Provides information regarding County services and any associated required documentation.
  • May be required to maintain databases for tracking of information. Maintains files and folders as appropriate.
  • Assists in meeting coordination, including scheduling dates, times, locations, and conference rooms as needed.
  • May assists with organizing and promoting El Paso County events.
  • Assists with special projects as requested.
  • Contributes to team effort by helping to achieve departmental goals.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Supervision Exercised: This classification does not have supervisory authority and requires no supervision or direction of others.
Supervision Received: Receives direct supervision. This classification normally performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation. Frequent direction, guidance, and coaching from supervisor is expected.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of local government services and operations.
  • Must be detail orientated and ensure accuracy in work. Ability to enter data in applicable databases timely and accurately.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft software products.
  • Must be energetic, friendly, and outgoing with excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with all types of people, including community leaders, County personnel, and visitors.
  • able ability to work independently with minimal supervision; ability to multi-task and utilize problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and be able to interact successfully with difficult customers.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.

Required Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Customer service experience.

  • Must pass conditional post offer background investigation and drug screen.

Work Conditions
Duties are primarily performed in an office environment. Weekend or evening hours may be required. This is a part-time position regularly working up to 25 hours per week.
