Job description

As a Supervisory Immigration Services Officer, you will manage all administrative immigration programs and related functions, activities and operations within a Regional Office and direct the Region's adjudication programs.Qualifications:The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 08/12/2026.
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 08/12/2026.

GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the majority of the following duties:
  • Supervising and managing a program and team of subordinate employees;
  • Providing technical and administrative supervision to subordinates engaged in programs administering immigration benefits and services, processing citizenship applications and family and employment-based petitions and registration;
  • Serving as an expert and adviser to Leadership in developing, analyzing, and/or implementing policies, programs, regulations and short and long-range plans;
  • Reviewing and analyzing production management reports related to the adjudication workload;
  • Preparing written and oral communication to advance the strategic objectives of a District or Field Office.

Education:EDUCATIONAL SUBSTITUTION: There is no educational substitution at this grade level.
Training: Selected candidates are required to attend and successfully complete the USCIS Immigration Service Officer Basic (ISO BASIC) Training Program located with the USCIS Academy Training Center in Charleston, SC. The ISO BASIC Training Program is approximately 5-6 weeks of academic instruction on the Immigration and Nationality Act, Code of Federal Regulations, and other immigration-related topics. Failure to meet the minimum exam average by the end of the course is grounds for removal from the position.Voluntary Separation Incentive Payment (VSIP): Per 5 CFR 576.202, An employee who receives a Voluntary Separation Incentive Payment (VSIP) and later accepts employment for compensation with the Government of the United States within 5 years of the date of the separation on which the VSIP is based, including work under a personal services contract or other direct contract, must repay the entire amount of the VSIP to the agency that paid it (proof of payment is required) before the individual's first day of reemployment.
