Job description

Position Overview

Center City Public Charter Schools is seeking a professional and reliable Spanish-English Family Interpreter to support communication between Spanish-speaking families and school staff. The majority of interpretation will take place in person at our Brightwood and Petworth campuses, with occasional opportunities to provide interpretation by phone or Zoom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and professional English-Spanish interpretation for families and school staff.
  • Interpret during parent meetings, conferences, school events, enrollment activities, and other school-based meetings.
  • Provide occasional phone or Zoom interpretation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive student and family information.
  • Support a welcoming and culturally responsive experience for Spanish-speaking families.
  • Coordinate with school staff regarding interpretation needs and scheduling.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled assignments.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish.
  • Prior experience providing interpretation services.
  • Educational and/or community interpreting experience required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and interpret accurately without adding or omitting information.
  • Reliable, professional, and comfortable working with diverse families and school staff.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a K–12 educational setting.
  • Formal interpreter training or certification.
Schedule & Compensation

This is a part-time, contract position paying $40.00 per hour. Hours will vary based on school and family needs. Work may be performed in person or remotely, though most assignments will take place at the Brightwood and Petworth campuses.
