Job description

GRADE: 62

SALARY: $16.47 hourly / 16-24 hours a week

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Community Social Services Technician provides comprehensive clerical, administrative, and paraprofessional support to Adult and Children's Services staff to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Responsibilities include serving as a primary point of contact for clients, gathering information, directing clients to appropriate programs and staff, maintaining records, processing documentation, scheduling appointments, managing mail and electronic files, and providing transportation assistance for clients to court, medical appointments, visitations, schools, foster placements, and other community resources. The position also supports community outreach efforts, coordinates with local service providers, and assists with special projects and agency operations as needed. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Significant knowledge of office procedures, customer service practices, and program support functions. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff, and community partners; maintain accurate records; organize and prioritize work; compose and proofread correspondence; maintain confidentiality; and use computer systems and office technology. Ability to learn and apply agency policies, procedures, and program requirements, while providing courteous and professional service in a fast-paced environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through two years of experience performing similar instructional, administrative, customer service, or community placement tasks; or graduation from a two-year associate degree program designed to prepare support personnel for human services agencies, including a six-month practice/internship in a similar setting (one year of experience may be substituted for the practice requirement).

PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO THOSE WITH BI-LINGUAL SKILLS AND/OR DSS EXPERIENCE.
