Part Time Human Resource information

What is a part time human resource?

Part-time human resource jobs involve working fewer hours than a full-time HR role, typically ranging from 10 to 30 hours per week. These positions support HR functions such as recruiting, onboarding, payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee relations. Part-time HR professionals are often employed by small businesses, nonprofits, or organizations with limited HR needs and may assist with compliance and policy implementation. The flexibility of part-time HR roles makes them ideal for individuals seeking work-life balance or supplemental income.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time human resource professional?

To excel as a Part Time Human Resource professional, you need a solid understanding of HR principles, recruitment processes, and employee relations, often supported by a degree in human resources or related fields. Familiarity with HR information systems (HRIS), payroll software, and compliance management tools is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, discretion, and effective communication set top performers apart in this role. These competencies are essential for maintaining a productive workplace, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting both employee and organizational needs.

How does a part time human resource professional typically collaborate with full time HR team members and other departments?

Part-time Human Resource professionals often work closely with full-time HR colleagues to ensure seamless communication and consistency in HR processes. They may attend regular team meetings, coordinate on tasks like recruitment, onboarding, or employee relations, and use shared digital tools to stay aligned with ongoing projects. Collaboration with other departments usually involves supporting HR initiatives, such as scheduling interviews or assisting with training sessions, while maintaining a flexible schedule. Clear communication and proactive updates help part-time HR staff integrate effectively and contribute to organizational goals.

Job description

About Apex Leaders, LLC

Apex Leaders is an expert network that connects private equity firms with the right industry experts. We go beyond a simple database of names–meticulously finding and vetting the exact advisors our clients need to build conviction and reduce risk in their deals.

Our private equity consulting services provide a direct line to highly-relevant subject matter experts who offer critical, real-world insights for due diligence and thesis work. Our mission is to help each firm build an exclusive network of trusted advisors, giving them a competitive edge and the confidence to make informed investment decisions.

About the role

  • 15-20 hours (may vary and present opportunity for additional hours during seasonal requirements or busy periods).
  • The Part-Time Talent Manager is the dedicated owner of the daily employee lifecycle at Apex Leaders. This role focuses on execution, administration, and employee support for our 40+ person, low turnover team.
  • The primary goal is to run a seamless, compliant, and supportive HR function - managing everything from recruiting logistics and onboarding to quarterly performance cycles and benefits administration - to maintain our strong culture as repeated Best Workplace winners.
  • Apex Leaders utilizes Rippling as its HRIS and Talent Management system. Experience with Rippling, or a similar sandbox data / workflow-based system is preferred.
  • Apex Leaders is based in Boise ID, and preference will therefore be given to local candidates. Candidates will be expected to work in-person at our Downtown Boise office for a minimum of two half-days per week.

What you'll do

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Recruitment Logistics: Manage job postings via Rippling ATS, review incoming applications, schedule interviews, and route qualified candidates to hiring managers. Act as the primary internal contact for external recruiters when specialized sourcing is required.
  • Role Alignment: Partner with hiring managers to draft/update job descriptions, establish competitive compensation ranges, and confirm final offer details.
  • Offer & Onboarding: Extend verbal offer calls, generate offer letters in Rippling, conduct reference checks, and host pre-start onboarding check-in calls.

Training, Development & Career Architecture

  • Program Execution: Lead the design, upkeep, and facilitation of company-wide new-hire onboarding and continuous training programs.
  • Career Pathing: Collaborate with leadership on career path design across departments, ensuring job architectures evolve alongside internal system advancements.
  • HR Systems & Assessments: Assist with feedback and monitoring of Rippling apps and tools, maintain organizational documentation and measure overall system effectiveness.

Rewards & Compensation Management

  • Compensation Benchmarking: Conduct periodic market analyses to maintain competitive and equitable salary bands across all internal positions.
  • Benefits Administration: Partner with Finance, our benefits broker (HUB) and Rippling to coordinate and administer annual Open Enrollment and answer benefit inquiries.
  • Multi-State Compliance: Ensure correct onboarding flows in partnership with Finance to maintain state-by-state compliance for statutory leave, disability, and employee benefit offerings across all remote employee locations.

Performance Management & Employee Relations

  • Review Cycle Operations: Manage quarterly and annual review cycles, stay interviews/anniversary check-ins, and ABC player assessments.
  • Manager Support & Coaching: Advise leaders on performance management issues, PIPs, and succession planning as needed.

Culture, Engagement & Offboarding

  • Culture Initiatives: Coordinate logistics for company-wide culture events (Annual Apex Week, Annual Holiday Party etc.) and gather post-event feedback.
  • Survey Administration: Administer surveys utilizing Rippling; lead focus groups to translate survey findings into actionable initiatives alongside the Culture Committee.
  • Offboarding Execution: Execute offboarding workflows in Rippling, draft separation documentation, conduct exit interviews.

Compliance & HR Operations

  • Documentation & Verification: Ensure 100% compliance for new hire I-9 verifications and state-required onboarding disclosures in Rippling.
  • Policy Maintenance: Regularly review, update, and distribute the Apex Leaders Employee Handbook and related internal policy documents via Rippling Document Management.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as an HR Manager, HR Generalist, or People Ops Specialist.
  • Familiarity with modern HRIS platforms (experience with Rippling is a plus).
  • Strong execution skills—someone who enjoys the "weeds" of HR administration and employee support over high-level organizational design.
  • Excellent discretion and communication skills for handling sensitive compensation and performance data.

The pay range for this role is:

45.00 - 55.00 USD per hour (HQ)
